Segment is a customer data platform that allows businesses to collect, clean, and control their customer data. It provides a single API to track customer data across multiple platforms and devices, and sends that data to various tools for analytics, marketing, and data warehousing.

Inflection provides a way to send and receive product events from Segment. You can connect Segment to inflection via the following options

• Segment as a source - Send product events from segment to inflection (This can be product events from your website, application, mobile devices etc ).
• Segment as a destination - Send Inflection events to Segment. example: Email deliverability events - email sent, email opened, link clicked etc.
• Segment as a source & destination - Send & Receive events from segment.

Inflection lets you connect your Segment account to send identify , track, and group events. User information from identify calls will be synced to Inflection person DB and all other calls will go to Product Activity in Inflection.

Inflection captures email delivery metrics for each campaign. These raw metrics can be used to analyze user behavior and understand the effectiveness of the campaign. The following events can be sent from Inflection to Segment:

• Track call - We will send information email deliverability via a track call: Email Sent, Email Delivered, Opened, Clicked information per campaign, per metric— per user.
• Identify - If there is more information about the user, Inflection has the capability to enrich the user information with identify call.

In order for Inflection to send the above calls to Segment, Segment requires a write key. You can generate a segment write key through your Segment portal and copy it to the Inflection set-up screen.

Inflection will send the following data to segment in all of its track calls:

• user_id - The unique identifier of the user
• email address
• campaign_id
• campaign_name
• campaign_email_subject - Subject of the email sent to the user
• campaign_email_link_url - (optional - if this is a link_clicked event, we will send the link which was clicked ) - Along with the link click count.
• is_unique_open , is_unique_click - If the link click is unique, or if the email open is unique
