# MMCs (Monthly Marketed Contacts)

> Understand Inflection pricing.

## What is an MMC?

Inflection pricing is based on MMCs, or Monthly Marketed Contacts.

* MMCs are unique contacts (unique by email address) who route through one or more Inflection journeys in a given calendar month (i.e. August 1-August 31).
* Inflection does not charge for contact database volume, marketable contacts, seats or data volumes.
* Non-personalized batch journeys (i.e. Newsletters) do not count against MMC cap, provided there are no MMC-triggering elements in the batch journey.

## MMC Journeys

A journey's contacts will be MMC-qualifying if **ANY** of the following criteria is met:

### Journey Settings

* Journey schedule is set to `Recurring` or `High frequency`.
* Journey settings contain `Exit criteria`.

### Email Action Flow Steps

* Journey has a `Send email` flow step or `Send internal email alert` flow step where the email includes a `Token`, `Column Accessor Token` or `Jinja` templating.

### Journey Control Flow Steps

* Journey canvas contains `Branch by value` flow step.
* Journey canvas contains `Branch by token` flow step.
  * **Note**: `abSplit()` and `randint()` tokens are **exceptions** and are not MMC-qualifying.
* Journey canvas contains `Branch by filter` flow step.
* Journey canvas contains `Nested journey` flow step.

### Integration Flow Steps

* Journey canvas contains `Run outbound webhook` flow step.
* Journey canvas contains `Add to Salesforce Campaign` flow step.

### List Action Flow Steps

* Journey canvas contains `Add to static list` or `Remove from static list` flow steps.

### Data Action Flow Steps

* Journey canvas contains `Update value` flow step.

### Trigger Journeys

Every contact who enters a Trigger Journey counts toward your MMC for that month. Unlike Scheduled Journeys — which are MMC-qualifying only when they include one of the elements above — Trigger Journeys are always MMC-qualifying, because they deliver personalized, real-time follow-up to individual contacts.

* A contact is counted as one MMC per calendar month (unique by email), even if they trigger the journey multiple times.
* The contact is counted in the month they are enrolled, when the trigger fires.

## Non-MMC Journeys

Journeys that do not meet the criteria above are non-MMC batch journeys.

* If a contact is **only** in non-MMC batch journeys, the contact will not count as an MMC.
* Inflection applies a high ceiling for non-MMC batch contacts. It is typically a multiplier of your MMC cap (see your contract for details).
* The intention is to allow you to consolidate your email communications in one place, while only paying for your highest-value (personalized) emails.
